Varanasi: The shooting of his upcoming biopic thriller-drama ‘Bandit Shakuntala’ at his homeland Jehanabad in Bihar is itself a thrilling experience for Abhimanyu Singh, who is often referred by the film critics as the bundle of talent.
The shooting of the movie, which is being directed by the internationally acclaimed filmmaker Hyder Kazmi, has been commenced in rural areas of Jehanabad. Presently the popular actor has already been camping in Bihar to shoot for the film that is set to release later in 2020. Abhimanyu reached Jehanabad on Sunday, and being the thorough professional that he is, he started shooting for Bandit Shakuntala the next day itself.
“Besides Abhimanyu Singh, Omkar Das Manikpuri (of Peepli Live fame) will also play a prominent character in the movie. I am amazed with the dedication of Abhimanyu who hasn’t let critical fame and professional success supersede his balanced mind,” said Kazmi.
“I will shoot in the village areas near Jehanabad for almost 3 weeks. This movie is based on a real-life story of the most dreaded female dacoit of Bihar – Shakuntala Devi. The interesting thing about the movie is that Shakuntala Devi herself will play the lead character,” said Abhimanyu about Kazmi’s film.
Prior to his shooting stint in this dacoit drama that is being shot in real locations in Bihar, Abhimanyu was busy in shooting for the film, Nikamma that is scheduled to release in the second half of 2020. “I am also working in Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s comeback movie. In that film I play the role of an antagonist which is directed by Sabbir Khan. The film will entertain the audience with its storyline, comedy, romance and action scenes,” said Abhimanyu.
Talking about working with his director Hyder Kazmi, Abhimanyu said, “Despite belonging to the new breed of filmmakers and having won several laurels at International film festivals, Hyder bhai is so down to earth and very focused in his work that I am highly impressed with his style of filmmaking.”
Abhimanyu’s wife Sargam Singh is the pillar behind his professional career, “Behind every successful man is a woman, and so is the case with my professional success as she manages my professional career and beautifully balances my domestic life along-with our social engagements,” shared Abhimanyu.
The film Bandit Shakuntala’s surprise element is that Hyder Kazmi plays a pivotal character alongside Shakuntala and Abhimanyu Singh, who are supported by Omkar Das Manekpuri, Ratanlal, Lalitesh, Zaffar Kazmi and Vishal Tiwari amongst others in important roles.
“I am sure that after this film Abhimanyu Singh will create a special slot in the heart of the audiences with the most memorable role of his filmy career,” said Kazmi.
While the film’s publicist is Sanjay Bhushan Patiyala, the noted PR of Bollywood industry, ‘Bandit Shakuntala’ is produced under the banner of UPJ Films Productions, produced by Pintu Kumar, Upendra Kumar and Shrawan Kumar. The film’s story is by Shivram Yadav, music by Aman Shlok Co Producer Liaqat Gola and the project is the master-brain of actor-director Hyder Kazmi who is sure to add another feather in his cap along-with ruffling the Bollywood film industry with this hard-hitting realistic subject.
